Roland van Dalen
(Export Director)
Roland van Dalen (Msc) is the Director Export for Eastern Europe and Central Asia and will be your host of this 2-day conference.
Roland is from the Netherlands and holds a Master degree in Finance. After his studies he worked in Belgium for 7 years at ExxonMobil (oil & gas industry) doing several roles in finance, supply chain and sales.
The last 8 years he has been working at Trouw Nutrition mostly in the global marketing team as Pricing Lead and later as Marketing Director for Selko Feed Additives portfolio. Since October 2024 he is in the lead of developing Trouw Nutrition’s export business and creating new partnerships in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
Roland is living in Amsterdam with his family and enjoys doing (winter) sports in his free time.
Gavin Boerboom
(Category Manager Trace Minerals)
Dr. Gavin Boerboom is originally from the Netherlands and got his master’s degree in human food sciences from the University of Maastricht. He joined Trouw Nutrition R&D in 2016 after finishing his Masters, focusing on the development of new feed additives improving performance and digestion. In 2018 he combined this role with a PhD position at Wageningen University, focused on trace mineral nutrition in monogastric animals, which he finished in 2021.
Upon completion of his PhD, he joined the Selko USA organization in January of 2022, supporting the mineral business in the North American market. He moved with his wife to Guelph, Canada, working out of the Trouw Nutrition Canada office. In this role he supported the sales force on their discussions with the bigger integrators in the US and Canada. In July of 2022, he joined the global Selko team as a Global Program Manager Trace Mineral, extending his responsibility for technical support beyond North America, focusing on the monogastric business in EU, Asia and MEA. He moved back to the Netherlands in Q2 of 2024 and took on the role of Global Category Director Trace Mineral, leading the global trace mineral team.


Lucia Luijben
(Upstream manager)
Lucia manages the Upstream group in NutEx. The Upstream group drives the blueprint creation for all new NutEx products; defining a path to each relevant market and organizing, authorizing and registering the products as such, closely working with the functional business lines. Her group also covers the Quality responsibility for NutEx and for Nutreco Switzerland, with a direct link to the Nutreco Global Quality team. And finally, the pipeline and portfolio management of projects and products across NutEx is also overseen by Lucia’s Upstream group.
Before Lucia joined NutEx late 2021, she had a position as Investment Associate in the NuFrontiers team. Before joining Nutreco in 2019, she worked on a biotech start-up and as a technology consultant. She obtained a master’s degree in biotechnology from Wageningen University in her home country, The Netherlands. Although she can be found often at Nutreco’s Garden of the Future in Switzerland, she is based in Nutreco’s global headquarters in Amersfoort, The Netherlands.
Yanming Han
(Development Director)
Yanming is NutEx’ Development Director since he joined NutEx in May 2022. He leads the ingredient development activities across NutEx’ Phytotechnology and Bacteria programs. This involves investigating complex, proprietary ingredients intersecting with world-class expertise in the exact context of the animal, in close intimacy with the customers’ specific needs, leading to a selection of unique and highly effective ultra-specialties for use in feed to improve animal health, resilience and performance.
Yanming joined Nutreco after completing a post-doctoral fellowship in molecular biotechnology, and spent over 20 years in Canada and the Netherlands, working across animal species and continents in feed additive and nutrition research and development, in close collaboration with leading academic groups all over the world. He holds a Ph.D. in animal nutrition with a focus on enzyme discovery and application.


Coen Smits
(Global Sustainability Director)
At Wageningen University, a dedicated individual pursued a Master's in Animal Breeding and Business Administration, followed by a PhD in 2000 on breeding for feed intake capacity in pigs. He joined Nutreco as an R&D project lead, coordinating projects at Hypor breeding company and contributing to pork chain projects and the COM4 housing system. From 2007 to 2017, Coen worked at Selko Feed Additives as Technical Manager and Product Manager for the Gut Health solution portfolio, later he was becoming Business Manager and Innovation Lead. In 2018, he joined Trouw Nutrition, leading innovation projects and eventually becoming Global Director of Swine & Poultry Innovation. Currently, Coen serves as Global Lead Business Development and a.i. Global Marketing Lead for Green House Gas reduction, showcasing his dedication to animal nutrition and sustainability. In addition to the above activities for Trouw Nutrition, he is an active lecturer and professor at Wageningen University in the field of sustainability. This combination provides a high quality link between theory and practice.
Catalin Necula
(Technical Sales Manager)
Dr. Cătălin Necula is originally from Romania and earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the University of Agricultural Studies and Veterinary Medicine in Bucharest. He later pursued a PhD in Animal Science at Banat University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Timișoara, focusing on the impact of lameness on nitrogen metabolism.
With over 18 years of experience in ruminant nutrition, animal health, and farm management, Cătălin has dedicated his career to enhancing efficiency and welfare in livestock production.
He joined Trouw Nutrition as a Ruminant Technical Sales Manager for the ECA region, specializing in feed additives and providing technical support to improve nutritional strategies.
His main areas of interest include nitrogen metabolism and efficiency, metabolic diseases during the transition period, and the development of practical on-farm assessment tools to drive productivity and sustainability.
